Purchasing Guide
On Android, the original versions of the games we translate can only be purchased from the Japanese Google Play Store. However, a Google account is permanently locked to a single Play Store country, so you will need a second account. This guide will show you how to properly set up this account in order to freely switch between Play Store regions.
Please note that you will also need a Japanese Google Play gift card code in order to purchase from that Play Store region. We suggest one of two options:
- Google recommends CodaShop.
- May not accept all international credit cards. If it is accepted, however, this is the cheaper option.

- Use the Chrome web browser to automatically translate the purchase page, if needed.
- Note the option to “Enter Amount”/”金額を入力”. The app prices are listed below.
- For reliability, Play-Asia is recommended.
- Works from any country, but there is a notable price markup.
- 3000 Yen gift card codes can be purchased here.
- Some of our users have reported more success with OffGamers and SeaGM.
- It is possible to use a Credit Card, if you provide a Japanese address. This is trial and error and won’t work with every card. Even for cards it works with, the first purchase usually fails. Google will charge your account with a small amount to “verify” it (you will be reimbursed later). Try again after a while and the charge may go through. This is not recommended because this process is more complicated and unreliable.

Open the Play Store and search for "ProtonVPN"

Install and open ProtonVPN

Tap "Create a new account"

Choose "Free"

Scroll down to "Create your account". Enter your email, then tap "Get ProtonVPN Free"

On the next screen, enter the six-digit code that has just been emailed to you, then tap "Validate"

Choose a username and password, then tap "Complete"

Return to your ProtonVPN app and log in

Scroll down and choose Japan. Select any JP server, then tap "Connect"

Confirm the OS dialogue that you want to connect to the VPN

Go to your Settings app, then select Apps (this may be different depending on your Android version and phone maker)

Select Google Play Store

First, select FORCE STOP, then Storage

Tap CLEAR DATA (don't worry, this will not remove any apps or delete your account)

Go back to the main menu of your Settings app, then select Users & Accounts (this may be different depending on your Android version and phone maker)

Sign into your secondary Google Account - NOT the one you already use for your main Play Store profile. If you haven't made one yet, you can create one here

When you're signed in, start the Play Store again (while connected to the VPN and after clearing the data in Step 13/14) and swipe from your left screen border to open the drawer. Select your new account from here

You should now see the Japanese Play Store. Search for "大逆転裁判"

Choose "Redeem" and enter a Japanese Google Play gift card code - our recommended instructions for buying one are at the top of this purchasing guide. If prompted, you can enter 100-0001 for your postal code and any random digits for your phone number. You may then finalize your DGS purchase

You can now end your VPN connection by returning to ProtonVPN and tapping "Disconnect". From now on, you should always be able to switch your account from the left drawer in the Play Store and purchase apps without the use of a VPN
Note that uninstalling the game within approximately the first two hours after purchase will trigger a refund. This only happens once, so to avoid the refund triggering during the normal patching process:
- Confirm that the game runs as expected
- Uninstall the game
- Return to the Play Store (the VPN is no longer required)
- Repurchase and reinstall the game
