Is your translation like AAI2’s fan localization?
Not quite. We will change puns and jokes so that they make sense in English, and there are only a few ancestors of familiar characters which will not be changed for the sake of keeping the original story intact. On the other hand, it does not sound like a fansub from the 90s and we’re very much commited to make everyone sound natural. Continuing the “Americanizing” that Capcom have done for the rest of the Ace Attorney games is fairly impossible for this game. Also: many names in this game are references, like characters in Sherlock Holmes novels, changing them would mean losing those.

To be clear: none of the main series characters you know and love appear in this game. None. The game wouldn’t be any different if it wouldn’t have been released under the Ace Attorney brand. It’s a spin-off.

Will there be an English dub? / Do you need voice actors?
Yes. We will make an optional (as in: you can chose if you want it or not) English dub, but at a later date. There will be an announcement about recruitment for voice actors soon.

Is it OK to stream/do a let’s play of your patch?
Of course, we always love seeing people enjoy and promote our fan translation. Please mention us and link to this website in the description when you do. If you give us a heads up before you stream, some of us may join your stream.

Does the game work in a 3DS Emulator like Citra?
Yes. But you’re on your own here, we don’t support 3DS emulation and/or piracy. If you want to play on your PC, see next question.

What about Android Emulators?
If they allow using PlayStore to legally purchase the game, we do support them. We got it to works with Bluestacks on Windows.

Can I help?
We’re not actively recruiting at this time. We probably will do that after our first release. If you do have previous experience working on a project like this or have a member vouching for you, we might still consider you – it doesn’t hurt to apply. You should be aware, however, that we will NOT take any testers. We’re also good on graphic editors.

You will need a Discord account and your abilities will be tested.

What is the progress so far?
DGS1 Episode 1-5 as well as DGS2 Episode 1-2 are released.

When will it be released?
Short answer: When it’s done. We do have work/school to attend as well as family and other obligations. This is a hobby. There is a lot to be done to deliver a presentable release, we’re working on it.

How will it be released?
We have an episodic release pattern. The patch will require an original DGS Game Card and Custom Firmware (CFW) – we recommend Luma3DS via B9S.

Without giving a direct link, you can easily find sites like play-asia.com, ebay or probably amazon.co.jp and search for “dai gyakuten saiban” or “大逆転裁判”. DGS1 is currently going for ~$40 / ~€35 (+shipping).

Will this modify my 3DS Game Card?
No, our patch works like a normal game update and is stored on your SD card. You can easily remove it in the System Settings > Data Management > Nintendo 3DS > Add-on Content > “The Great Ace Attorney” (it has our logo as icon). Game Cards are read-only, so it cannot be overwritten by this patch. There is an additional tiny chip for game saves though.

How do I update the patch on new releases?
Run the patcher as instructed in the repository and just install the new CIA. Each game can only have one game update at a time, so the old version will automatically be overwritten.
